Data privacy notice
We take data protection and confidentiality very seriously and follow the provisions of the Data Protection Act. Please read this data privacy information carefully before submitting a report.
Purpose of the whistleblower system and legal basis
The whistleblower system (BKMS® System) is used to receive, process and administer criminal complaints in accordance with § 55 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in a secure and confidential manner.

The whistleblower system is operated by a specialised company, EQS Group GmbH, Bayreuther Str. 35, 10789 Berlin in Germany, on behalf of the National Police.
Personal data and information entered into the whistleblower system is stored in a database operated by EQS Group GmbH in a high-security data centre. The data can only be viewed by the National Police. EQS Group GmbH and other third parties have no access to the data. This is guaranteed in the certified procedure by comprehensive technical and organisational measures.
All data is encrypted and stored with multi-level password protection, so that access is restricted to a very narrow circle of recipients expressly authorised by the National Police.

Type of personal data collected
The use of the whistleblower system is voluntary. If you submit a report via the whistleblower system, we collect the following personal data and information:
- your name, if you disclose your identity,
- where applicable, names of persons and other personal data of the persons you mention in your report..
Confidential handling of reports
Incoming reports are received by a small selection of expressly authorised and specially trained employees of the National Police and are always handled confidentially. They examine the facts of the case and, if necessary, carry out a more detailed case-related investigation.
When processing a report, it may be necessary to forward reports to additional employees of the National Police or employees of the Liechtenstein criminal justice (Public prosecutor's office/ Court of justice).
Any person who gains access to the data is obligated to maintain confidentiality.
Information of the accused person
We are generally obliged by law to inform the accused persons that we have received a report concerning them as soon as this information no longer threaten the follow-up of the report. Your identity as whistleblower will not be disclosed - as far as legally permissible.
Rights of data subjects
Pursuant to the Data Protection Act, you and the persons named in the report have the right of access, correction, deletion and restriction of the processing of your personal data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Data Protection Office of the Principality of Liechtenstein, 9490 Vaduz, www.datenschutzstelle.li).
Retention period of personal data
Personal data is retained for as long as the clarification and final assessment of the report requires. After the report processing is concluded, this data is deleted in accordance with the legal requirements.
Use of the whistleblower portal
The communication between your computer and the whistleblower system takes place via an encrypted connection (SSL). Your IP address of your computer will not be stored while using the whistleblower system. In order to maintain the connection between your computer and the BKMS® System, a cookie is stored on your computer that merely contains the session ID (a so-called null cookie). The cookie is only valid until the end of your session and expires when closing your browser.
You have the option of setting up a secured postbox in the whistleblower system with a self-selected pseudonym/ user name and password. This allows you to send reports to the responsible employee of the National Police either by name or anonymously and securely. With this system, the data is stored exclusively in the whistleblower system and is therefore particularly secure; It is not a form of regular e-mail communication.
Note on sending attachments
When submitting a report or sending an amendment, you have the option of sending attachments to the responsible employees. If you wish to submit a report anonymously, please take note of the following security advice: Files may contain hidden personal data that could compromise your anonymity. Remove this data before sending. If you are unable to remove this data or are unsure how to do so, copy the text of your attachment into your report text or send the printed document anonymously to the address listed in the footer, quoting the reference number you will receive at the end of the reporting process.
